It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Eliza Mary Porter (nee Stratton) on January 24th at the age of 98. Leaving to mourn two sons, Ronald Porter and (Linda nee Maher) Calgary AB, Brian Porter Mount Pearl NL as well as four grandchildren, Terri DeGiano (Terry) and Christine Ireland (Nick) of Calgary AB, Laura Porter Whittle (Brian) and Steven Porter (Melissa) of St. John’s NL, four great-grandchildren Braeden and Jacob Ireland, Joshua DeGiano, Raina Whittle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband Raymond Glynn Porter, brother Abel Stratton, sister Marjorie Stuart, parents Edgar and Rebecca Stratton and great-grandson Liam Ireland. A special thanks to the staff of the 3rd floor at Corner Brook Long Term Care. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Avenue Sunday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 29th at 11:00 am from First United Church, Park Street with Reverend John van Vliet officiating, followed by the interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery.
