DUBRULE, SANDRA MARION (KILBURN) - With great sadness, the Dubrule family announces the passing of Sandra “Sande” Marion (Kilburn) Dubrule on May 10th, 2011 in Fredericton, NB, after a brief illness. She was the devoted daughter of the late Robin and Nina (Hood) Kilburn of Fredericton, NB; sister of George, Clark, Christopher and predeceased by Nancy and Glen; sister-in-law of the wonderful “Kilburn Ladies”, Bonnie, Pat, Barb and Geri and Ms. Geraldine Dubrule of Kingston, ON; auntie for two generations of Kilburn family; grandmother of Mackenzie and Maisen (Dubrule) and widow of beloved David M. Dubrule (1989). Graduate of the University of New Brunswick, class of 1961, and tireless student of the Arts, Sandra and David raised three adoring children, Michael, Robyn and Matthew (Mary Lou) in an environment of laughter, literature, liberal politics and love. A voracious reader; devotee to the Globe and Mail and CBC Radio One; she further developed her understanding of the world through a constantly inquisitive approach, and encouraged learning through debate and healthy dialogue. Art history, music and “life aquatic” were passions for Sandra; and she shared her encyclopedic knowledge as a gallery docent, piano tutor, or at the helm. Sandra was a warm and smiling personality, that appreciated humour in all forms and leaves us with countless remembrances of her unmistakable laughter; from both cerebral and Vaudevillian comedy alike. She expressed thanks to her family and friends for their well wishes and kind attentions, and in her own words: “Will see you on the other side”.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, 61 York Street, Fredericton, on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Rev. Dr. Terry Atkinson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Canadian Red Cross or the charity of the donor’s choice.
