George Lagace

LAGACÉ, GEORGE - Passed away on May 11, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 23, 1942, in Grand Falls, N.B. to the late Albert and Agathe (Beaulieu) Lagacé. He was predeceased by four sisters Elsie, Linda, Velma, infant Marie Mai. He was the last of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Mariette (Bourgoin), daughter Joanne, Léonide (Ouellette), son Richard, Lana (Berryman) Lagacé, five grandchildren Jake, Jenna, Roy, Hannah, Benjamin. During his younger years he joined the Cadets and Reserve. He loved playing hockey, and was a former Volunteer Fireman. For many years he was a Milkman for Guimond Dairy in Grand Falls. It was then that he met his wife Mariette of 48 years. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked for Thibodeau Construction in Grand Falls, N.B., for Irving Equipment in Saint John and Mactaquac Power Ltd. He worked on the Welland Canal in Ontario. In 1976, he started his own company in Saint John, N.B. He retired because of poor health. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus. He was a strong minded man and accepted people as they were. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Visiting will be at the O’Regan Funeral Home Ltd., 515 Everard H. Daigle Blvd. in Grand Falls, N.B. (Tel: 506-473-3063) on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Service will be held in the Drummond Church on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service will be announced at a later date in Saint John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or Grand Falls Manor.
