The death of Lloyd Augustine Shields of Fredericton, N.B., occurred on August 17, 2009, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B.
Born September 29, 1942 at Howlan, P.E.I., he was the son of the late William (Bill) and Helen (Martin) Shields of Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Lloyd was a transport driver for many years, travelling both Canada and the U.S., and a security guard retiring in 2007 from National Port Security due to illness.
Survived by his wife Nancy (Dunphy, Tims); two daughters, Vickie Anaka and Rachael Shields, and one son, Wade Shields, all of Edmonton, Alta.; stepchildren Darrel (Darci) Tims of Edmonton, Alta.; Greg (Bev) Tims of Saint John, N.B.; brothers Reg Shields of Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Raymond (Debbie) Shields of Montague, P.E.I.; sisters, Marlene Flood (Louis) of Charlottetown, P.E.I., and Marjorie Currie (Brian) of Oshawa, Ont.; grandchildren Madison (Matt) Rockarts of Fort St. John, B.C.; Ariel Anaka, Briana Shields, Bronwyn Cadby, Brady Kobbero, all of Edmonton, Alta.; Kyle, Mitchell, Ryan Tims of Saint John, N.B.; Mackenzie and Dustin Tims of Edmonton, Alta.; and one great-granddaughter, Lacey of Edmonton, Alta. Predeceased by his brothers Ronnie and Joseph and his sister, Gloria Shields.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 2 p.m. Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
