ENS – Martha (Friesen) age 89, passed away peacefully at the Swift Current Care Centre on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Martha was predeceased by her father, Peter; mother, Margaretha; husband, Jacob; and siblings, Anna, Margaret, Katherine, Peter, George, Susana, John, Agnes, Elizabeth, Helen and Abe. She is survived by her children, Ken (Sue-Ellen) Ens of Edmonton, Barbara (David) Breckon of Calgary, Laura (Murray) Wiens of Swift Current and Fran (Ron) Juffinger of Swift Current; grandchildren, Kendle (Owen) Melsness, Jana (Gerard) Melki , Michael (Trish) Breckon, Christie Breckon, Bobby (Kayla) Wiens, Jason (Lindsay) Wiens, Melanie (Jay) Ross, Travis (Sarah) Juffinger; great-grandchildren, Brendan Ross, Gillian Ross, Zakk Melsness, Amelie Melki, Eva Melki, Oceana Melki, and Katie Wiens; siblings, Mary, Jake and Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was born to Peter & Margaretha Friesen on November 2, 1921, in Blumenort, SK. She married Jacob F. Ens on November 14, 1943, in Blumenhof, SK and they were blessed with 4 children. Martha was very generous with her love to family and friends, a friend to all and always opened her door to everyone she met. She was well known for her delicious noodle soup and banana cream pies. She encouraged her 4 children in furthering their education, which was very important to her. She loved her large vegetable and flower gardens, joining her children for picnic lunches in the backyard and water fights using precious warm water from the rain barrel. Our favorite memories include her beautiful whistling while she hung out the laundry, lunches with grape kool-aid, ham sandwiches and her special sour cream chocolate cake for Sunday picnics at Lac Pelletier. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Swift Current Care Centre for their loving and compassionate care that they provided to our Mom. A private family Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 1:00 pm, from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bryon Bezanson officiating and Janice Bezanson as pianist and soloist. The Interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Swift Current Funeral Home.
