On May 5, 2011, Mr. Roland Gordon McPetrie passed away peacefully at Heffley Creek at the age of 69 years.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Kirsten Odian (Gary) of Penticton and Joanne Reilly (Grant) of Kamloops; three grandchildren, Justin and Aaron Odian and Tahlia Reilly; one brother, James McPetrie; one sister, Anne Norris (Robert); and his nieces and nephews.
Roland was predeceased by his father and mother, David and Cloe McPetrie.
Roland was born on the 17th of July, 1941, in St. Andrews, Scotland, son of David and Cloe McPetrie. Roly and his siblings, Anne and Jimmy, grew up in Wimbledon. His family later moved to Suffolk where they attended school and learned to ride and sail. When Roly was 21, he immigrated to Canada and worked on his cousins' orchard. He loved the outdoors and best enjoyed work where he could be outside. He met his future wife, Shari, in Vancouver and they later settled in Kamloops and were blessed with two daughters, Kirsten and Joanne. He taught his girls to ski, swim, fish and camp and shared his love of the garden and animals. He welcomed the birth of his three grandchildren, Justin, Aaron and Tahlia, with whom he loved to play.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel.
