Helen Adshade
Helen Audrey (MacAloney) Adshade, 74 of Port Howe, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, surrounded by her loving husband of 26 years, Clarence and her children. Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Edith (Gower) MacAloney.
She had resided most of her life in Westchester until finally settling in Port Howe. Helen had been a seamstress at Stanfield's in Oxford for twenty-five years. After her retirement, she had worked as a chambermaid at Valley Inn Motel in Wentworth Valley for two years.
Helen had three favourite pastimes; playing bingo, playing cards, and watching NASCAR racing.
Besides her husband, Clarence Adshade, Helen will be sadly missed by two sons, G. Allen (Paulette) Rushton and Glen (Alisa) Rushton; three daughters, Marlene (Calvin) Moody, Julie (Carl) Rushton, and Peggy Rushton; three brothers, Layton (Jeanette) MacAloney, Carvel (Barb) MacAloney, and Robert (Debbie) McAloney; three sisters, June Fletcher, Margerite (Richard) May, and Betty (Dennis) Gamble; two brothers-in-law, Norman and Wayne and three sisters-in-law, Femmie, Betty Lou, and Evelyn. As well, she will be missed by eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Gillis and Carol Welch; one grandchild, Matthew Tuttle and one great grandchild, Molly Hill; her mother and father in-law Carmen and Mable Adshade, a brother in law Michael Calder and nephew Christopher Calder.
Helen's remains have been entrusted into the care and supervision of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) from where visitation will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 12 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Rev. Meggin King officiating. Burial will follow in the Eagle Hill Cemetery. All are invited after the interment, to a time of refreshments and memories at the Westchester Fire Hall.
