BONITA (BONNIE) MERRION PETROSCHUK of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully August 18, 2009 after a brief illness. Born December 16, 1924 in Mossbank to Ralph and Hazel Sawin. Bonnie was serving in the Canadian Armed Forces where she met and then married John Petroschuk in 1944 in Mossbank. She stayed home to raise their four children. After raising their family, Bonnie started cooking at various Moose Jaw restaurants. She was famous for her traditional Christmas pudding. She enjoyed knitting hundreds of newborn hats for the hospital, playing Bingo, knitting for the grandkids, and playing cards and games with her friends at Heritage Place. She was predeceased by her husband John – 1981; brothers, Leon, Guy and Dale Sawin, sister, Norma Robbins, grandson, David Petroschuk and her son Ralph. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Diana (Dennis) Purdy; sons: Ken (Rachel) and Gary (Bonnie), daughter-in-law, Loraine, sister, Phillipa (Roland) Vesey, brother, Butch (Barb) Sawin; in-laws: Lorne, Betty and Elaine; grandchildren: Tracey (Barry) Taylor, Kimberly (Kevin) Brown, Brad (Aimee) Petroschuk, Michael (Deanne) Petroschuk, Kelly (Glenn) McKeage; great-grandchildren: Hudson, Dalton and Lyla Taylor; Colton and Caylin Brown; Brittany, Benjamin, Abigail Zerr. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 4p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Dave Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening, 7:30 – 9p.m. at the Funeral Home.
