Charles (Charlie) Clark

CLARK, CHARLES A. (CHARLIE) - 1923-2011 - Miramichi - It is with sadness that the family of Mr. Charles Alfred (Charlie) Clark, of Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, Veterans Wing, and formerly of Georgina St. (Ferry Road) Miramichi, announce his passing on May 12, 2011, at his residence, at the age of 87. Charlie was born in Millbank on May 24, 1923, the third son of Harold and Lillie (Leslie) Clark. He served in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. While stationed in Comox, B.C., he assisted in the installation of the power lines along the Alaska Highway. A graduate of the Maritime Forestry School, in 1951, Charlie embarked on a satisfying 30 year career in the forestry industry, where he last held the position of Woodlands Supervisor at Repap. He was a mentor to many. In 1968, Charlie and Jean opened Clark's Campground and Trailer Park, followed by Riverbend Trailer park a few years later. He was a founding leader of the Boy Scouts of Canada troop, at Bethel united Church, in the late 1960's. He was a member of Branch #10, Royal Canadian legion, Miramichi. Predeceased by his wife, Georgina (Jean Dickson), he is survived by his children, Shelley, of Miramichi, Colin, of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Harold (Beverly), of Cobourg, Ont.; his sister, Lorna Dickson (Grear), of Miramichi; three brothers, George (Marnie), Leslie (Ann) and Robert (Carmel), all of Miramichi; several nieces and nephews and by very special friends Archie and Elwanda Gilliss, of Fredericton. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, David (Marg) and Earle (late Irene).
Charlie loved the woods! He spent most of his life exploring the forest, whether at work, on his trails at home, or just walking, observing and listening. He was happy to share his knowledge of nature with everyone. We remember Charlie for his friendliness and hospitality, sense of humor, love of music, and above all, his generosity. He always welcomed an opportunity to lend a hand......or a dollar. He supported various charitable organizations, including the Canadian Wildlife Federation, the ALS Society of Canada and the Moorefield Cemetery Fund, however, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the "Bus Fund" of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home or the Alzheimer's Society, Miramichi Chapter.
Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
