McLEAN: Florence Elizabeth McLean (nee Goohsen) March 19, 1922- March 24,2011. Our beloved Florence died as she lived, with great courage and dignity. She is survived by her son Gordon (Irene) McLean, daughter-in-law Arina McLean, grandchildren Laura (Mark Sanders), James, Jason (Brenda Ames), Michael and Tracy McLean, great-grandchildren Jameson Bolton, Asia McLean, Hunter McLean, Rebecca and Declan Sanders and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her husband James McLean in 2002 and her son Richard McLean in 2010. Florence's heart always remained on the farm. She was born in Medicine Hat, AB, grew up on a farm near Gull Lake, SK and operated a mixed farm there with her husband until their retirement to Oxbow, SK in 1972. Later they moved to Cranbrook, BC. Together, she and Jim spent wonderful times boating, fishing, playing golf and traveling in their R V. She spent her last two years in Nanaimo, BC. She was loved by all for her sunny smile and easygoing personality and admired by all for her natural athletic ability. Some of her proudest moments were being chosen Gull Lake Carnival Queen in the 1930s, curling in the Saskatchewan Senior Women's Provincial playoffs in the 70s and catching a record-setting northern pike in 1982. A Graveside service to be held at Memory Gardens, Swift Current, SK, on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at First United Church, 223- 3rd Ave. NE., Swift Current. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
