Robert Kenneth Phelan was born on June 24, 1926 in Montreal, QC, the youngest of 16 children, passed away April 29, 2011 in Victoria, BC at the age of 84.

Bob leaves to mourn, his loving wife and best friend Norma. Also left to mourn are four stepchildren, Johanna (Neil) Clark, Judith (Ray) Attfield, James (Corena) Kovacs and Janice Kovacs (Ralph) as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Bob joined the merchant Marines at the age of 15 and spent many years at sea. He settled in England where he became a train engineer and also learned his Painting and Decorating trade which he continued to work with upon returning to Canada in the mid twenties. It was in Montreal where he met his future wife Norma. Bob and Norma eventually moved west, living in Penticton, Vernon and then Kamloops where he continued his Painting and Decorating as well as working for the Dept. of Indian Affairs. He was responsible for decorating numerous buildings, inside and out in the BC Interior. After retirement in 1987 Bob and Norma settled in Victoria, BC until his passing.

Bob and Norma enjoyed countless hours of fishing together in the Kamloops area lakes. He loved animals and his grandchildren and his favourite hockey team was the Montreal Canadiens. He will be remembered as a strong and resilient man with a tender and caring heart.

Bob will be returning to the sea as was always his wish.
