EDGAR LUC NADEAU
Edgar, 52, beloved husband of Teresa, passed away at RUH August 6, 2009. At Edgar’s request, in lieu of a service, flowers, etc., donations to the MS Society will be gratefully accepted. Edgar farmed and ranched in Val Marie, where he was born. After completing a Heavy Duty Mechanics course, he returned to the farm. Upon being diagnosed with quickly advancing MS, Edgar became familiar with the disease and with Home Care, devised a system enabling him to live on his own, thus he purchased his home in Saskatoon. Initially a friend, Teresa established a bond with Edgar that resulted in a fifteen year relationship including their marriage. Edgar delighted in telling people how Teresa had improved his life dramatically – his life now again had a purpose. The simultaneous slowing of the MS was easy to understand for those who observed how happy they were together. Edgar teased and joked with Teresa yet was always understanding and sympathetic when appropriate. His intelligence and vast knowledge of unlimited topics made him an entertaining and well rounded conversationalist as well an understanding listener. Edgar’s recanting of his experiences with his pups, while Teresa was at work was hilarious. He noted “they can only talk so much”, but the predicaments the pups could get all of them into, provided Edgar with unlimited entertainment. With his guidance and Teresa’s enthusiasm their life together became a series of new adventures. Edgar sold his land in Val Marie, and together they orchestrated relocating his cattle closer to Saskatoon. With close friend Bob Kemmer, they completed major renovations to their home. To expand Edgar’s mobility, they retrofitted a bus and later a van, enabling trips, to inspect the cattle, to a wedding in Red Deer and around the city, often with grandchildren all of whom Edgar took pride in contributing to their maturing. Those close to Edgar as he met and dealt with the challenges of his disease, can only marvel at his internal strength and fortitude, his external selflessness and constant desire to put others needs ahead of his own. He was a pillar of humanity. Edgar thought always of his family and friends, however as MS advanced his voice became too weak to initiate contact. Nevertheless, his friends made up the difference - Friday evening was not complete without a visit from his Kelsey roommate Miles McGillivray who became a life long friend. (Miles, with his brothers, had visited Edgar often in Val Marie, assisting in many ways on the farm, including shingling the farm home and working at Edgar’s auction.) Barry and Mona Label; Leon, Lorrie, and Levi (Edgar’s Godson) Perrault, also life long friends, were never failing support. Cousin Doreen was a consistent visitor. She and Jim helped celebrate their wedding, and returned consistently from Calgary to visit. Edgar, predeceased by his father, Noel and brother-in-law Walter Laturnus, is survived by his wife Teresa, her two daughters, Tina and Roberta and their families, his mother Theresa, sister Edna (Dennis), nephew Darwin(Carrie), uncles, aunts, cousins and very good friends.
