87, of Lyons Brook and formerly of Toronto and Newfoundland, passed away May 5, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in The Goulds, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Margaret Ann (Howlett) Walsh. She lived and worked in Toronto for most of her life, settling in Lyons Brook four years ago. An avid bridge player she also enjoyed reading, and visits with special nephew, Robbie Rastorp. She was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou. Mary is survived by her brothers, Henry (Beryl), Swansea, Wales; Ronald, Providence, Rhode Island; James (Florence), Lyons Brook; sisters, Jean Bird, Meaford, Ontario; and Gertrude (Robert) Rastorp, Costa Rica; nieces and nephews; godchild, Susan Livingstone. She was predeceased by a brother, Leonard. Visitation was held 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. May 8, in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass took place 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Evo Di Pierro officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to any charity.
