PARRISH, Lena May (Meisner) - 91, formerly of Lakeville, Kings County, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Lovelace Corner, Kings County on May 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah “Jerry” and Lottie Viola (Baltzer) Meisner. She was a great cook, loved to garden and enjoyed sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress and made clothing for her family. She picked apples in her younger years and later helped to prepare the meals for the apple pickers. She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte (Larry) Buchanan, South Berwick; three sons, Carl, Brooklyn Street; Eric (Heather), Woodville; George (Geraldine), Glenmont; a sister, Dorothy Taylor, Evergreen Home for Special Care; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Barbara; a sister, Lillian Bond and a brother, Carl. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, Pastor Christine Bigelow officiating. A private family interment took place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
