John Innis

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of the late John William Innis, 98, of Seafoam, announce his passing on May 13, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Black River, February 8, 1913, he was a son of the late William and Agnes (Murray) Innis.
He was employed with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography as a carpenter. After retirement he returned to Pictou County. He was a lifetime member of the Masons of Canada. His retirement years were enjoyed travelling, gardening, going to dances and card parties. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, and was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend.
John is survived by his sister, Dorothy Clattenburg, of Dartmouth; nieces, Dorothy (Earle) Chisholm, of Prince George, British Columbia; Linda Langille, of Grand Bay, New Brunswick; nephews, Richard (Elna) Innis, of Cambridge, N.S.; Wayne Clattenburg, of Dartmouth, as well as great nieces and nephews, and special friend, Muriel Haslem.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (MacKenzie); brother, Daniel; and sister, Margaret Ross.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Friday from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, with Rev. Greg Dickson officiating. Interment will be in West Branch Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or a charity of your choice.
