John James Campbell, 47, of Mitchell Avenue, Dominion, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on August 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Glace Bay, Johnny is survived by his mother, Stella (Caretta) Campbell; his brothers, Ron, Ottawa, Basil, Bridgewater, Robert, Dominion; his sisters, Yvonne (Carl), Dominion, Eileen (Frank), Sydney River, Linda, Dominion and Suzanne (Jimmy), Dominion. Johnny is also survived by his nephews, John, Nicholas, Jordan, Jesse and Aidan and niece, Alexandra.
Johnny was predeceased by his father, John James Campbell (December 24, 1986).
Johnny will be forever remembered for his great love of family. He relished any time he spent in the company of his immediate and extended family. Johnny was a man defined by his great faith and the extent to which he fully lived it.
Johnny attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1979. He had a great fondness for nature and it’s harvest, which was evident in his love of gardening and landscaping. He strived to attain a peaceful, happy, quiet life based on faith, love and family. Johnny really enjoyed our recent Campbell family reunion.
Johnny will be greatly missed by us, his family. We truly loved him and the void left by his passing will be filled with all the happy memories of a son, a brother, an uncle, who cherished us.
The family would like to thank staff at the regional hospital and the palliative care unit for their guidance, care and compassionate support.

A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held for family and friends Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Gardiner Mines Community Hall between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
