The death ocurred peacefully at the St Catharines General Hospital, St. Catharines Ont., on July 31, 2009, of Joseph John Mazda, aged 92, with his children Jo-anne (George) Stanwyck, St Catharines Ont., and Joseph Jr (Cathy) Mazda, Barrie, Ont., at his side. Joseph was born on Aug. 15, 1916, in Halifax, N.S. Survived by his stepchildren, Eileen (George) Phillips, Portage P.E.I. and Gerald (Sheila) Mac Dougall, St. Catharines, Ont., 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren as well as a brother, Edward-Mazda, and sister, Sally Turner, nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Reginald (Marilyn) Noye, P.E.I., and sister-in-law, Evelyn. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Dorothy) Mazda (nee Noye), brothers, Larry, Leo, Billy and sisters, Renie, Jenny. There will be a memorial held for Joseph at the Pentecostal Church on Pope Road, Summerside, P.E.I. on Tues Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. with interment to follow at the Victoria West Cemetary, Victoria West, P.E.I. at 3 p.m. for both Joseph (John) and Catharine (Dorothy) Mazda. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation in both names.
