Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, Harvey J. Dewey, aged 88 years. Four year veteran of WWII, serving in Germany, Brussells and France and a 38 year Provincial Government employee in the Finance Department and Registrar General. Predeceased by his parents William J. and Meta Dewey; wife Florence Maud (nee Peckford); sisters Edith Dewey and Mable Reed. Leaving to mourn his sister Jean Hillier; nephews Howard Hillier, Mark, Gary and Ryan Reed; nieces Robyn Carr and Janice Sarnicola. Also leaving to mourn his longtime caregiver: Florence Murray (Eric Tippett), other caregivers Ike Olano, Michael Olano, Espie Olano, Pia Olano and Elizabeth Butt; VON nurse Ellen Peddle and her son Jonathan Peddle; also other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Mabel Starkes, Dr. Joshi and Dr. Berman and the nurses at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Serenity Home Care and Wendy Kavanagh. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and then from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Field of Honor.
