Passed peacefully away on May 18th, 2011 at Chancellor Park Complex after a short illness, Mary Smith of Norman’s Cove, age 98 years. Predeceased by husband Eugene (July 2000), infant daughter Ida Pearl, parents William and Suzannah Branton (Thornlea), brothers James Branton, Caleb Branton, James Newhook and Ernest Branton, sisters Lucy Syms, Pearl Garrington, Charlotte Newhook, Elizabeth Bennett, brothers-in-law Cyril Smith, Norman Smith, Jacob Smith. Leaving to mourn two sons: Gordon (Linda), St. John’s, Bill (Deanna), St. John’s; two daughters: Mildred Pretty (Ted), Mt. Pearl, Vera Pitts (Len), Glovertown; nine grandchildren: Pamela, Chris, Renee, Jodi, Janine, Stacey, Kim, Karen, Rodney and ten great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Nicole, Curtis, Alecia, Kyle, Devin, Riley, Emilee, Amanda and Ryan; two sisters: Mildred Bonnell, St. John’s and Effie Thompson (New York); two brothers: Gordon (Mary) Branton, Thornlea, Bill (Marie) Branton, Stephenville; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Smith, Ern Smith and Winston (June) Smith; sisters-in-law: Marion Barrett, Marjorie Smith, Viola Bemister, Muriel (Sterling) Randell, Bernice Smith, Susie (Jim) Mercer. Also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Norman’s Cove. Visitation on May 19th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday, May 20th, 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral service from Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Norman’s Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd. Many thanks to the staff of Chancellor Park for their care and kindness.
