RUSSELL, H. ARCHIBALD “ARCHIE” - In the presence of his loving family, Harold Archibald “Archie” Russell passed away peacefully at York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Archie was born in Chatham, N.B. on December 4, 1926. He was a member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church, Fredericton. He was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces and his military career would span nearly 40 years. During WWII, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He also served during the Korean War with the Signals Corps. He retired from military service in 1978 with the rank of M.W.O. Archie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4, Fredericton. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his daughter Gail Russell of Vancouver, B.C.; two sons, Ronald Russell and Bryan Russell both of Fredericton; a granddaughter Katie Cougle (Matt) of Fredericton and a grandson Adam Russell of B.C. and two great grandchildren Jacob and Olivia as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Katherine G. (Johnston) Russell and his mother Ethel Russell.
A funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Monte Peters officiating followed by a Legion Tribute Service. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service. Interment in the Hermitage Cemetery at a later date. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be sent to The York Foundation (York Manor Nursing Home) or the Alzheimer Society of N.B.
