Lionel Robichaud
ROBICHAUD, LIONEL G. - It is with great sadness that the family of Lionel Robichaud announce his peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, May 19, 2011, following a brief illness. Lionel was the beloved husband of Joye (Drillen) Robichaud for almost 48 years. Born on January 4, 1938 in Neguac, NB, he was the son of the late Didace and Marguerite Robichaud. His family moved to Saint John when Lionel was a young boy residing in Indiantown (North End) for many years where the family operated a grocery business. Besides his wife Joye, he is survived by his loving children, daughter Kelly (Carl) Buckley and grandson Drew Buckley of Rothesay; daughter Kyla A. Robichaud of Quispamsis; son Kray (Lynne) Robichaud and grandchildren Dagan, Declan, Caelyn and Reeghan Robichaud of Eastern Passage, NS. He was dearly loved by his siblings Theresa (Louis) Leonard, Anita (Art) Leonard, Lawrence (Margie) Robichaud all of Saint John. He was predeceased by his youngest sister Georgina Allen (2008). He will also be missed by Joye's sisters Judy (Steve) Gogan and Sandra (Lester) Ellis and his many special nieces and nephews. Lionel operated a Painting and Saw Filing & Sharpening Business - "Lionel's Sharp All" - for many years. He retired early from the painting side of his business, but continued with sharpening until recently. He had many wonderful customers over the years. For Lionel everything centered around family, enjoying many summers camping at Grand Lake and Pine Cone. In his younger years, Lionel liked to entertain by singing and playing the guitar and was delighted when his grandson Drew wanted to learn to play. The two of them had many jam sessions together. He loved his late dog Sam, they went everywhere together. Sam let everyone know that he "owned" the front seat of Lionel's truck. Lionel had a natural gift for carpentry. In his spare time, Lionel turned his hand to woodworking, making many special items for his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his wit and humour. As long as we can remember, our father has been here for us, a consistent and selfless source of kindness and generosity providing an emotional foundation for our lives. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Rand Forgie and the entire SICU Team for their outstanding care.
Fundy Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements. Following cremation, the Robichaud Family would like to welcome family and friends to visit with them at their residence 174 Visart Street on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 2 to 6 pm. In memory of Lionel, donations to the Saint John Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.fundyfuneralhome.com.
