On December 17, 2017 we laid to rest a very loving and special husband, father, brother and grandfather, Paul Havelock Blades, who passed away on December 13, 2017.
The family extends sincere thanks to family friend and longtime family physician, Dr. B.J. O’Brien as well as office staff, Crystal and Teresa; staff at Pharmasave Glace Bay, staff of the CB Cancer Centre, staff of the IMCU at the CB Regional Hospital, as well as the staff of the An Cala Unit.
Our deepest thanks to Dannie Hansen, who always seemed to know what was needed and worked behind the scenes to ensure that it happened and was provided.
Thank you to Rev’d Myrna MacMullin for her visits and prayers at the hospital and the service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port Morien. Thank you to the church choir, organist Sandra Matheson, and Barb Stetter for the beautiful music. Thank you to the pallbearers- Floyd, Nicholas, Liam, Keith, Robert and Dannie. We also wish to thank the readers- daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Lauren, and longtime family friend Robert. Thank you to St. Paul’s Guild for providing a beautiful lunch after the service.

Thank you to Paul McDonald for generously providing the gravesite services.
We would also like to thank our many relatives, friends, neighbours and co-workers who telephoned and sent messages of heartfelt condolence, visited, and brought food to our homes. We gratefully acknowledge the numerous donations to the church and various organizations in Paul’s memory. To those who sent sympathy cards, flowers and monetary donations, thank you. He would have been pleased to have been fondly remembered.
