Jim was born in Calgary, AB to parents Harry Ludlow Holman of St. John, NB and mother Rosalind Thompson of Grass River, MB. He was the youngest of their six children. His love of nature was apparent early, and grew in adolescence when he accompanied his father, a Forest Engineer to Canada's northern regions. Jim would return to the wilderness, his sanctuary, throughout his life. Sport was a passion of his youth which followed him into adulthood; fly fishing, ice-hockey and golf were among his favorites. He studied sciences and engineering while at U of A and over the summer break returned to Calgary where he met Carole, his future wife and the mother of his children. He would go on to work in fields including National Cash Register, Signode Steel, and Real Estate. Jim was father to Lisa, Andrea and Mike. He shared his love of sport and nature with his children and grandchildren for which they are grateful. Jim will be remembered by some as outgoing and humorous. By others, he will be remembered as an outdoors man who loved solitude.
He will be remembered and missed by many including Carole Holman, Lisa (Joel) Marcoe, Andrea (EnriquÈ) Cramer, Mike Holman (AndrÈe Beauchemin) his grandchildren Sarah, Claire and Jack Marcoe and Emilio and MatÌas Cramer.
The family extends their thanks to Jim's physicians, nurses, caregivers and staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

"Jim, may your last cast reel in the peace
and wonder you found while fishing".
