Roderick ‘Roddie’ MacKinnon, 85 of Sydney, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John R. and Sarah (MacArthur) MacKinnon.
He was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish and was an employee of the Sydney Steel plant. He had a great love for playing many instruments and listening to music.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Long, Sydney; brothers, John, Sydney; Donald (Mary Lou), Grand Mira and by many nieces and nephews. Roddie is also survived by his special niece/goddaughter, Johnena Long.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marion; sisters, Mary Katherine (Steve) Tobin and Anne MacKinnon.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Daniel Church with Revs. Norman MacPhee and Alexander MacKinnon concelebrating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
