BRANNEN, Harold Amos, Overton, NS, passed away June 15, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Yarmouth on April 16, 1950 to the late Amos Jr. and Martha (Nickerson) Brannen. At the age of 15, Harold started working at Amos Brannen & Sons, his grandfather’s fish plant and soon after began fishing. He loved anything to do with the boat, the wharf and being on the water. Harold often said his favourite pastime was pulling up his lobster traps to see what was inside. You could find Harold during the off-season working on lobster gear at Bayview, one of his favourite places. He loved going for drives with his favourite canine pal, Bruno and nightly visits from Bruno’s friend Tucker. He also loved hunting and collecting. Anyone who knew Harold, knew he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He fought a courageous battle with his health over the last year and he appreciated the love and care he received from his own personal nurse, Heather. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Heather (Smith) Cunningham, her family including daughters, Tamara Ward (Sheldon LeBlanc), Tracey Saulnier (Terry), Tara Smith (Chris), nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Fraser Brannen (Donna) and Charles Brannen ; sisters, Marsha Posey (Jimmy) and Charlene Brannen, as well as special aunt, Sylvia Grant. Harold was pre-deceased by his parents Amos Jr. and Martha Brannen and nephew Brent Brannen. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.
