Jacob Neufeld of Swift Current, SK, aged 88 years, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Salvation Army Community Church with Captain Michael Ramsay officiating. The pianist/soloist was Susan Ramsay and the eulogist was Anne Loewen. Ushers were Frank Neufeld and Henry Heinrichs. Urn bearer was Dylan Neufeld, the only grandson, who spent many happy summers in Swift Current with his grandparents. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.

Jacob is survived by his wife Helen, with whom he shared over 63 wonderful years. They truly were best friends. He is also survived by his five children: Earl, Marilyn (Richard Friesen), Raymond (Margaret), Walter (Kathy) and Donald (Michelle); one grandson (Raymond's son) Dylan (Laura) and two great grandchildren, Emma Neufeld and his namesake, Jacob Neufeld. His brothers and sisters; Peter (Ann), Betty (Jake Heinrichs), Mary Friesen, Frank (Erna) and Lena (Johnny Sawatzky) and his sister-in-law Mary Neufeld (widow of Cornie). Also his brothers-and sisters-in-law; Gert Mather, Helen Heinrichs (widow of Ike), Pete Heinrichs (Betty), Susan Langeman (Peter), Henry Heinrichs (Dolores), Eva Baier (Adolf), Anne Loewen (Ray) and Dave Heinrichs (Edna) and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Agatha, his stepmother Annie and his father Jacob, his brothers John and Cornie, his sister-in-law Marion (Heinrichs) Knight and his brothers-in-law Jake Friesen, Abe Heinrichs, Peter Mather and Ike Heinrichs.

Jacob served overseas in the Army from 1941 until the end of 1945 as a cook. Upon his discharge, he worked in Swift Current at the Horse Plant, for the CPR and was a janitor at various schools, retiring from Elmwood School in 1981.

He was a gentle, considerate man. We have lost a wonderful husband, father and friend.
