STARRITT (Willigar/Brown), Edith Buryl – 93, Little Bass River, passed away peacefully, with her daughter, Ruth, and son-in-law, Donald, at her side, on Monday morning, May 23, 2011, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born April 1, 1918, on the homestead on Brown Road, Upper Economy, she was the youngest daughter of the late Harvey and Florence (Langille) Brown. Edith is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Donald) Meek, Deland, Florida; sister, Margaret Oxner, Halifax; grandchildren, Donald Meek Jr. (Jennifer Kimball), Vermont; Norma Jean Willigar, Deborah Dowker, Shawn Willigar, Amanda Willigar, all of Ontario; great grandchildren, Samantha Meek, Florida; Timothy Meek, Vermont; sisters-in-law, Agnes Brown, Halifax; Joyce Harper, Ontario; nieces, Bonita Oxner, Shelly (Oxner) Crowell, Halifax; Glenda (Donald) Cock, Great Village, her “winter home niece”; Barbara (Elliott) Starritt, Bass River; nephews, Donald Elliott, Lower Sackville; James Harvey Brown, Donald Brown, Danny Brown, Halifax; Douglas Brown, Colchester County; great niece and nephew, Karen Brown and Richard Brown, Ontario; good friends, Vivian Rutherford, Jean Corbet, Ted Smith. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Percy Willigar; second husband, Walter Starritt; son, Everett Willigar; sister, Doris (Llewelyn) Elliott; brothers, Lawson Brown, James Brown, Ralph Brown. Special thanks are extended to the McCormick brothers and their wives, Irvin (Marilyn) and Garry (Evelyn) for all of their help and also much appreciation to Dr. Donald Rowe, nursing staff of Floor 3N, Colchester Regional Hospital and VON staff. Edith’s family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2011, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in Riverside United Church, 5577 Highway 2, Bass River, Reverend Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Interment in Bass River Baptist Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church basement. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Edith’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
