Margaret Bird, 78 of Glace Bay passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Victoria Haven Nursing Home.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late George and Ida (Wadman) Bird. She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and a long time member of the LOBA Lodge. Margaret enjoyed camping in Ben Eoin with her family.
She is survived by her son, Francis (Cathy) Bird of Dartmouth; sisters, Laura (Tom) Brocklebank, Mary (Raymond) Johnston, Johnenna; brother, Robert, special niece, Donna; special nephew, Robert and numerous other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Cyril; brothers, Richard and Ronald and special caregiver, “Girlie”.
Visitation will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Wednesday, May 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with funeral service to follow at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay on Thursday at 2 p.m. With Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
