Floyd Steeves
STEEVES, FLOYD ARNOLD - 1928 - 2011 - Floyd Arnold Steeves, 83, of Weldon passed away peacefully on May 23, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side. Floyd was born in Osborne Corner on April 21, 1928 the son of the late Lloyd and Martha (Geldart) Steeves. Floyd was a jack of all trades and could do anything. He worked at Parker's Mill and in the woods, at Canadian Gypsum Company and last worked as a General Carpenter doing many jobs for people in the community. He was a member of the Riverside Modelers Association and enjoyed flying model airplanes. He also belonged to the Parents without Partners Group where he enjoyed dancing and listening to music. He enjoyed woodworking and made many lawn swings, baby barns and all kinds of ornaments. He also loved being outdoors having snowmobiled in his younger days and enjoyed watching his humming birds in the summer. Above all things he was a family man who loved his family very much. He was a beloved dad, grampy and great grampy. Fond memories will live on forever. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Judy Murray (Doug) of Riverview and Sherry Woodworth (Aric) of Hopewell Hill; sons, Rick of Weldon, Garth of Surrey, BC and Pernell of Weldon; his precious grandchildren, Stewart Murray (Barbara), April Morton (Ian), Shannon McClure (Colin), Loretta Miller (Aaron), Luke Woodworth (Melissa) ; and Aleisha Phinney; treasured great-grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail, Peyton, Ethan, Owen ; by his sisters, Eileen Wilson (Harold) of Curryville, Erma Freeman (Don) of Upper Coverdale ; brother, Raymond Steeves of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his former wife Barbara Cormier and her children, Charlotte, Lisa and Angela and granddaughter, Cassie. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Geraldine (Martin) -April 1973 and grandson, Ryan Andrew Murray -July 1982.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00am with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, NB. Immediately following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the funeral home for further sharing of memories and for refreshments.
