Stanley (Stan) Joseph Stefanowski (Oct. 29, 1946 – Sep. 16, 2018)
Stan Stefanowski passed away peacefully and with great dignity in Calgary on September 16, surrounded by his loving family, after a two-year battle with cancer. Stan is survived by his long-time partner, Cheryl Lidfors, his three children, Kari Hayley (Darrell), Grant Stefanowski (Jacquie) and Jill Landmark (Blake), 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as his 7 brothers and sisters, their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Stan was a great lover of sports and he was especially passionate about his Saskatchewan Roughriders football team. He was a talented athlete himself when younger, playing junior football (Saskatoon Hilltops) and university football (U of S Huskies) as well as baseball and hockey. Stan loved the fact that his grandchildren are all very involved in sports and he enjoyed watching them participate. Stan and Cheryl enjoyed travel and spent time in the Okanagan Valley annually for their summer vacation. Stan loved the summer heat in Penticton and Osoyoos. At Stan’s request, there will be no funeral service. His family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Donations, in Stan’s memory, would be gratefully accepted by the Royal Canadian Legion or Jumpstart.
