BURNS, Annette Mary Dorothy – 67, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, following a bravely fought struggle with cancer that she faced with courage and dignity and a recent serious fall. Born August 2, 1942, in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy (Shea) Kotowick. Annette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and wonderful friend who always had a smile to share. She was a member of Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 102 Wing, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, and Port Perry Branch 419, Port Perry, Ontario, where she had been in charge of the Poppy Fund and served as 2nd and 3rd vice as well as secretary. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, bowling on the Tuesday and Thursday afternoon leagues and was known to organize great “games events” including football pools, crib games and dart tournaments. She was devoted to her faithful dog, Scarlet. Annette is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Neil Gregory; her children, Catherine Line, Sudbury, Ontario; Tracey (Paul) Dawson, Bible Hill; Douglas “Doug” Line, Markham, Ontario; devoted granddaughter, Anna-Marie Hockley; sister, Brenda Kotowick, Toronto; brothers, Bruce (Frances) Purdy, Oakville, Ontario; Tony Kotowick, Charles (Nina) Kotowick; aunt, Ruth Carter, all of Toronto; former husband, Paul (Sue) Line, Baldwin, Ontario; Neil’s children, Melody (Jeff) Seymour, Galann (Dean) Caissie, all of Woodstock, Ontario; Rosemarie Garrity, Collingwood, Ontario; Stephen (June) Cochrane, Zimbabwe; grandchildren, Sarah and Stuart Cochrane, Jessica and Leanna Caissie; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, will conduct a tribute service 11 am, Saturday, August 29, 2009.
