Jean Wilma (Trenholm) Pye

Jean Wilma (Trenholm) Pye

Pye (Trenholm), Jean Wilma- 75, Pugwash, died peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the East Cumberland Lodge. Born in Northport, September 20, 1943, Jean was the daughter of the late Judson and Annie Trenholm. Raised on the family farm in Northport by her father and grandmother, Jean’s work ethic came early. A mother first, Jean spent her life devoted to her seven children; ensuring their needs were met. Losing her husband to cancer in 1969, with three babies at the time, Jean set out to work and work hard is what she did. She made a career as a labourer working for Knol’s Farm and Gordon’s Greenhouses. A green thumb at heart, Jean loved gardening, indoors and out, and there wasn’t a plant, tree or shrub she couldn’t bring back to life; even after Sheila had thrown it out. Her pets meant everything to her and she loved caring for many over the years, notably her dogs, cats and rabbits. In earlier years, ‘Jean’s taxi’ was well known by her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends—she was always driving somebody, somewhere. An avid knitter in her spare time, Jean was known all over town for her knit socks--many old and young were proud to own a pair of her homemade socks. While her memory faded in recent years, Jean still enjoyed daily trips to the Co-op and running into old friends; she enjoyed drives and especially spending time with her family. Her favorite pastime was listening to the Saturday night hoedown. There was no questioning what Jean was doing from 6pm-9pm every Saturday night. Surviving are her children, Chris Pye (Tracey), Fox Harbour; Eddy Pye (Rhonda), Halifax; Gloria (Pye) Micklethwaite (Simon), Hazelbrook, PE; Shenna Bennett (John), Pugwash River; Sheila Bennett (Mark); Pugwash; Glen Bennett (Melissa), Timberlea; Charlene Bennett-Peters (Greg), Williamswood; grandchildren; Codi (Jessica); Samantha (Matt); Justyce (Mark); Kyerstin, Caleb and Jonah; great grandchildren, Skylar, Ezra and Hunter; many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher; brother, Floyd Trenholm; sisters Eileen Bennett, Marie Trenholm and Judy Jackson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle's Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (902) 243-2506. In keeping with Jean's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the ALS Society or any local charity. The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the healthcare professionals for the care and compassion shown to Jean and her family this past year including: the VON Cumberland Branch, North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash; Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst; and the East Cumberland Lodge. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.mmcfunerals.com
