It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Russell Bond, age 71, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on December 24, 1946, he was the son of Elizabeth (Musseau) Bond and the late Russell Bond.
Russ worked for Marine Atlantic until his retirement in 2007. In addition to his deep love and commitment to family, Russ was a talented guitar and accordion player. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to Tim’s.
Russ leaves behind to mourn his mother, Elizabeth; his loving wife, Rodina (Hall) Bond; son, Russell (Kenda); brothers, Don (Ann), and Allan (Cathy); sister, Suzie Holic; grandsons, Kevin (Kelsey), Russie (Nicole); granddaughter, Kailea; great-granddaughters, Zoey Ann and Abby Noel. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Day; brothers-in-law, Murray, Glen, Donnie, Vincent and George Hall, and sisters-in-law, Frances Russell, and Valarie Parks.
Russ had a huge circle of friends. He will be dearly missed by his cousin, Sid Hardy, and friends, Phil Letteus, Connie Scott, Joe Hines, and Floyd Boutilier.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by daughter, Tracey Anne; brother, Doug; father-in-law, Archie Hall; brothers-in-law, Joe Hall, Lawrence Hall, Gerard Holic, and sister-in-law, Rita Bond.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines.
A celebration of Russell’s life will take place at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
The burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
