STELLARTON - Doreen Laura Mitchell, 85, Maple Crest Seniors Apts., Stellarton, passed away on Thursday August 27, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late John and Lydia Fowler.
She had worked at the Aberdeen Hospital for several years and then Glen Haven Manor for 25 years until her retirement.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters: Diane Cerezki (Ed), Gairloch; Beverly Ann Greene, Hamilton, Ont.; Susan Swinamer (Carl), Plymouth; Marlene Davidson, Coalburn; Margaret MacLennan, New Glasgow; sons, Fred Mitchell (Betty), Westville; Brenton Mitchell, Pictou Landing Road; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Helen Campbell, Halifax; Dorothy Emslie (James), Porter’s Lake and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Mitchell; infant daughter, Brenda; sisters, Jean and Evelyn; and brothers: Wilfred, John, Harold, William, Peter and David Fowler.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, August 31, at First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Gairloch Cemetery.
