It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Reid, age 68 on November 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mary MacNeil.
George was employed with the Cape Breton Transit for 16 years. He enjoyed playing darts at The Mess in Glace Bay, and the Glace Bay Fire Hall, you could always find him with a cup of coffee and a copy of the Cape Breton Post at the wharf or Tim Horton’s.
George is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ann, Glace Bay and Georgina (Chris), Alberta; brother, Charles (Joni) McNeil; sisters, Mary McNeil, Calgary, Ann Marie McNeil, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Amber (Billy), Glace Bay and Tyler, Ontario; great-grandson, Kai; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Julia Boutilier; nephew, Nelson MacDonald; a very special uncle; Henry Rosta and a loving companion, Edie Slade.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman McPhee officiating. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Morien.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society of Cape Breton or the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Centre.
