It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret ‘Tootsie’ McIsaac, 78, of New Waterford, on May 26, 2011 at New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Allan and Mary Ann (McIsaac) McIsaac.
Tootsie was a member of the former St. Agnes parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard and the New Waterford Pensioners’ Club. She was employed as a factory worker and waitress for over thirty years while living in Toronto. Tootsie loved playing darts, listening to music, dancing and going for long drives. She also cherished her Sunday family gatherings where she would have tea and something sweet for all who arrived.
Surviving are sons, Allan (Lucy), Toronto, Ont., David, Norwood, Ont.; brothers Allan ‘Allie’ (Linda), New Waterford, Ray (Olive), Glace Bay; Archie (Sue), Joe, both of Hamilton, Ont.; sisters, Gloria (Andrew), Lorraine (Ray), both of New Waterford; sister-in-law, Henrietta McIsaac, Scotchtown; many nieces, nephews and relatives in Inverness; grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher; best friends, Marie Desveaux, who called every night and said, ‘What are you doin?’, Donna Ropek and Catherine Smith.
Besides her parents, Tootsie was predeceased by brothers, Angie, Alex, Allan; sister-in-law, Marg.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Tootsie will be held Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
