CUNNINGHAM, Jeanette Delores – 79, of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., passed away May 20, 2011 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on January 23, 1932 in Overton, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bernice (MacKinnon) Thompson. Our beloved mother left us a legacy of courage, ready smile, quick wit and humour in the face of adversity. Most importantly, a faith in God in her later years. She was a homemaker and aid to her fisherman husband. Unafraid to attempt new things, she worked seasonally for Joel Smith Fisheries, Dept. of Highways, Maple Grove School, personal care for a few individuals and a cleaning service during tourist season. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Randy) Ritchie, Yarmouth; Nancy (Gerald) den Hollander, Dartmouth; Stephanie (Stanley) Ellis, Lake George; sons, Randy Cunningham (Tracy Blauvelt), Cape Forchu; Michael (Tracey) Ward, Wilmot; stepdaughter, Betty Rushton, Kentville; brothers, Ernest “Buddy” (Margaret) Thompson, Pembroke; Harold (Ann) Thompson, Gavelton; Stanley (Terri) Thompson, Middleton; sisters, Marjorie (Billy) Newell, Overton; Jessie (Wayne) Deyarmond, Truro; eight grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Ralph; brother, Randall; grandson, Jeremy Cunningham; stepson, Wilfred Rushton; step-granddaughter, Karen Lynch. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday, May 23 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Leroy Corkum officiated. Interment followed in Darlings Lake Cemetery. A reception followed the interment at South Ohio Community Center. Family flowers only, please.
