It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorne Currie, Rockdale Avenue, Glace Bay, at the VG Hospital in Halifax on May 25, 2011, with his family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of Kay (McIntyre) and the late Joe Currie.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Josephine McDonald; son, Christopher; daughters, Jessica and Hilary; and granddaughter, Alyssa. He is also survived by sisters, Morah, Halifax and Maria (Evans), Edmonton; several first cousins and many close friends.
Lorne was an avid sports fan; and played hockey since a child. He played golf with his friends in the summer months; he loved his Montreal Canadians and Boston Bruins. Lorne also loved music; and spent many happy hours listening to different artists.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church with Father Leo Boone officiating. Burial in St. Anne’s Cemetery. Family will be at the church at 9 a.m. to receive friends. Following the mass, a reception will be held in the church foyer.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Cancer society or charity of choice.
