Lieu de décès : Kamloops, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 21 mai 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Lyle Hargrave Philip, at the age of 72, after a long battle with cancer.

Lyle was predeceased by our beloved Mom, his wife of 37 years, Patricia in 1999.

He leaves behind his son Brad (Char) Philip and his daughter Dee Baillie (Joe), his five grandchildren to whom he was known as Bubba, Grayson, Emyerson and Mackinley Philip and Madison and Kennedy Baillie all of Kamloops, B.C., his sister Patricia (Stan) Kerluke of Langley, B.C., sisters-in-law Donna, Arlene and Debbie, nieces, nephews and many friends, including Lou. Thank you Lou for being there for Dad.

Lyle was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., and after high school attended school to become an Air Traffic Controller. His career began in Carmi, B.C. During one of his trips back to Vancouver, Lyle met Pat and it was not long before they were engaged. They married in 1962 and soon after Lyle received a transfer to the Williams Lake Airport. Their first child Brad was born in Williams Lake in 1964. Mom and Dad were up for a new adventure and so in 1965 accepted an 18 month posting at Cape St. James in the Queen Charlotte Islands, to run a light house and weather station. During their time at 'The Cape' Pat became pregnant with their second child Dee, and tried talking Lyle into letting her stay and have him deliver their baby. Lyle was not too keen on this idea and so Mom and Brad were flown by helicopter to Vancouver to await the arrival of Dee. Once Lyle finished his contract at 'The Cape', he continued his career after moving the family to Kamloops in 1966, where he worked at the Kamloops Flight Service Station at the Kamloops Airport, until his retirement in 1994.

Our Dad was a kind, generous, gentle man that saw the value in every one and taught us to be tolerant, non-judgmental and compassionate. He was not a wealthy man, but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it more than he, offer a ride to someone stranded, give shelter to a friend in a bad spot, and was always a philanthropist, for as much as he could give, to help out. Our hearts are heavy with sadness.

We will miss you Dad (Bubba).
You can now rest in peace with Mom.

Our family would like to express our most sincere gratitude and thanks to all the staff at Ridgeview Lodge that took such wonderful care of our Dad these past 2+ years, especially at the end.

A special thank you to Dr. Ben Anders for all the time you gave to care for and talk with Dad and to help our family through this journey.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering to Celebrate Dad's Life on Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at 675 Pine Street, Kamloops, B.C., from 2:00-6:00 p.m. A private ceremony will take place beforehand.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyle's name to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
