James Frederick “Jay” Fraser, 38 years, of Church Street, Westville, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

Born in New Glasgow on June 2, 1972, he was a son of the late Hugh and Faye (MacMillan) Fraser.

Jay was a former employee of Trenton Works until it’s closure and was a proud employee of the new Westville Public Works Dept. He had an interest for working with older cars, especially his Chev. His greatest passion was firefighting , being a member of the Westville Fire Department for the past 16 years, presently as a Captain. He was also an instructor at the Pictou Co. Fire Schools and the N.S. Fire School in Waverley.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Pauline (Crockett); sister Sally Fraser, Westville; loving uncle to Dylan James, Josie, Colin, Chris, and Shayla Fraser and Kearra, Kayla, Janine, and Mitchell Crockett He is also survived by special uncle James MacMillan, New Glasgow; mother and father-in-law, Janet and Ian Crockett, Lorne; brothers-in-law Allen (Darlene), Roddie (Kathy) and Wesley (Keitha) Crockett and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jay was predeceased by brother-in-law, Vernon Fraser.

Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Tuesday from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson and Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
