It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Rose Reid. Irene passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Cape Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Sydney.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Gertrude (MacKenzie) MacInnis.
Irene had a good sense of humour and she loved the summer, going to the beach and gardening. She also was a great hockey fan.
Irene will be sadly missed by her daughters, Evelyn, Glace Bay, Elaine Mancuso (John), Delaware, USA; son, Harry, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mary, Cecilia; brothers, Pius, Paul and Bernard.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.
In honoring Irene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Irene will be held Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Fr. Norman MacPhee will be officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
