Passed peacefully away at his residence at St. Luke’s Homes on Friday, May 27, 2011, in his 97th year. He was predeceased by his loving wife Madeline (2007); his parents Henry and Georgina; his brothers: Isaac, Cecil and Thomas; his sisters: Olive (Stockwood) and Molly (Duffett). Left to mourn his passing are his son Herbert (Elizabeth) of Oakville, Ontario; loving grandchildren: Jamie (Alyse) and Catherine; brother Duncan and sister Georgina Nixon (Campbell). Harry was born in St. John’s and educated at the Model School and Bishop Feild College. Harry joined Harvey and Company in 1935 and worked in many departments of the company until his retirement at age 65, at which time he was the Company’s chief accountant. Bowling, fishing and bridge were his favourite pastimes. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Luke’s Homes for their loving care of Harry especially during the last days of his life. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st, 2011. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road.
