New Glasgow - Marilyn Jean Elizabeth Alexander, 54, of New Glasgow, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Amherst on January 14, 1957, she was a daughter of Richard and Eileen (Dixon) Cameron, of Amherst. Marilyn will be sadly missed by her parents, her beloved husband and best friend Larry; sisters: Helen, Halifax; Janet, Amherst; Peggy (Sherman) Carter, Brookdale; numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was a kind and gentle soul with a wicked sense of humour whose mischievous nature made it a joy to be in her company. She enjoyed her summers at Braeshore, Pictou County and her parents’ cottage at Linden and every year looked forward to her winter trips south with great anticipation. She loved the Amazing Race, Bon Jovi, Sudoku puzzles and attending or watching curling events. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service and burial will take place at a later date in Linden, Cumberland County. For those who wish, memorial donations in Marilyn’s name may be made to the Aberdeen Health Foundation, Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.
