The death occurred peacefully at Maison McCullouch Hospice on January 27, 2019 of Phil MacLeod, in his 77th year, beloved husband of Effie (predeceased 2001). Loving father of Lorna (Craig Ayers) and Gordon (Trish). Cherished Grandfather of Evan. Predeceased by his parents Melville and Mary and siblings Jim and Linda. Survived by his sisters Katherine (Cecil) and Elinor. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Phil moved to Levack in his early twenties. He worked briefly at INCO before embarking on a lifelong devotion to serving the community of Onaping Falls as owner and operator of P. MacLeod Bus lines. Adored by generations of students, teachers, and parents, Phil was a kind and generous soul who was known for his smile and positive attitude. Phil placed a high value on education and supported the local schools with student awards and bursaries. He had a love for sports and was co-owner of the Onaping Falls Huskies Junior A hockey team in which he shared many road trips across the north with coaches, hockey players and families. Phil enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and camping. He was a devoted member of the Legion and supporter of our veterans. He also volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, Red Cross and worked on various committees. Above all else, Phil loved his community of Onaping Falls and the people who live there. Phil will be remembered by everyone who met him for his kindness, generosity and sweet nature. The family is grateful for all the friends as well as the outreach care teams who helped keep Phil at home in the community he loved so dearly. We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pearce and the medical staff who provided care to Phil over the last couple of years. At Phil’s request, there will be no visitation or service. A gathering was held at the Onaping Falls Legion on February 2nd, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope program or The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503 would be appreciated. A private memorial service will be held this summer on PEI
