McLAUGHLIN, CLARA - Miss Clara McLaughlin, 88, of Grand Falls, NB, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Born at Grand Falls in 1922, she was the last surviving child of the late John F. McLaughlin and the late Margaret (Sullivan) McLaughlin. She worked as Accountant for J. Clark & Son Limited for 22 years, and was a member of the General Motors Dealer Accountant's Club for 19 years. She then worked as Accountant for Valley Equipment Limited in Grand Falls for three years, and then at several different places, and retired from Grand Falls Milling Co. on December 31, 1983. She was a member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of NB, the Golden Age Club and the New Brunswick Senior Citizens Federation, the Grand Falls Historical Society and sang in the Catholic Church Choir for 75 years. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Ethel McLaughlin (late Irven) of Grand Falls, nieces Louise Dawson, Shirley Barnhouse, and nephews Joseph, Fred, Jeffrey and Daniel McLaughlin, and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Agnes Morin, Edith McLaughlin, Enid Filgas and Muriel Dionne, and brothers, Audrey, Irven, Joseph and Bernard McLaughlin.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Friday, June 3rd at 2 p.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls with interment in the Assumption Cemetery.
