Daniel William Quinn, 75, of Florence passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born June 17, 1935, he was the son of the late William and Julia (LeBlanc) Quinn. He was a member of St. Stephen’s parish, Florence.
He is survived by his loving and devoted care giving wife of 54 years, Ann (Barrie); his loving children, Judy (Doug) Robinson, Malaysia, Paul (Terri), Dartmouth, Linda (Carmen), Coxheath, and Kevin (Julie), Texas; grandchildren, Dr. David Quinn, Tara Quinn, Jason Quinn, Leslie Robinson, Cheryl Robinson, Keith Robinson, Carter Quinn and Eric Quinn. Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Fenerty, Florence (Donald) Drake and Anita (Bobby) Anthony; brothers, Alex (Mary), Andrew (Valerie); and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, George Fenerty.
As a young man Dan worked, as did many other proud Cape Bretoners, in the coal mines for Devco. Dad led an uncomplicated lifestyle. He liked to play cards, hunt, fish, have a warm house and never liked to be away from Greenhill for more than two days. He also enjoyed many hours with his buddies chatting in the carport. His biggest legacy was leaving behind four loving children and eight grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer and his nurse Sharon MacDonald and all the health care professionals who showed so much compassion in Dad’s failing years.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, Florence, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. Burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
