We lost our beloved Tom in the early hours of May 30th. He was one of those gentle, kind souls that everyone should be so lucky to know and yet we were blessed to have him as our precious Dad, devoted Husband to Mom, loving Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and kind hearted friend to everyone.
He leaves behind the love of his life Dolly, his wife of almost 60 years; his three daughters whom he loved beyond words: Julie Peitzsche of Grande Prairie, AB, Bonnie Gladu (Rick) of Kamloops, and Lisa Osaduik of Kamloops; his beautiful granddaughters Kristen, Hayley, Angela, Melissa and Sierra and his only grandson and special buddy Colton. He was also blessed with ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Steve Osaduik (Audrey) of Port Alberni, B.C. and sister Natasha (Nettie) of Regina, Sask., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was all about family and was happiest when he was surrounded by them. He was a special man to live in a house of four females, worked tirelessly, loved us endlessly and worried too much about us girls even as adults. He loved the simple pleasures in life, going fishing and just sitting and taking in the beauty of everything around him.
Aircraft were one of his passions and would take in the air shows whenever he could. Dad had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved music and was gifted with a natural ability to pick up his guitar or mandolin and play something. He spent most of his working life as an underground miner just south of Salmo at Reeves MacDonald Mine in Remac, B.C., which is where he met Mom, from 1951 to 1974. He spent 2 years working at the mine on Texada Island and in 1977 they moved to Kamloops where he worked as crusher operator at Highland Valley Copper until retirement in 1999. He loved his job there and never wanted to retire.
Tom was born in Estevan, Sask. and was one of nine children born to his loving parents Anna & Stephen Osaduik, who came to Canada from the Ukraine. He is now reunited with all his family in Heaven who he missed so much.
Dad devoted his life to his family and now we will spend the rest of our lives missing him, his gentle hugs and his wise and comforting words.
We will keep you in our hearts always.
Oh Dad, be at peace in Heaven,
We know you are one of God's special angels.
Our family wishes to thank the Ambulance and Rescue Attendants, the Trauma Unit of the RIH and Dr. Azad, who all worked tirelessly to save him and showed us all such compassion and kindness. Also, our thanks to Dr. Reid who has always given him the best care.
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, with Chaplain Mary Widmer officiating.
Interment at Hillside Cemetery will take place immediately following the service.
Friends and family are then invited to a reception at 3:00 p.m. at the Kamloops Funeral Home Tea Room.
Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2T1.
