It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Ambrose Joseph Deveaux on March 7, 2019 at Taigh Na Mara with loving family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Michael “Casey” and Elizabeth (Donovan) Devoe.
During World War II he was a member of the Cape Breton Highlanders and served in many different countries overseas.
Da worked for DEVCO from 1946-1985 as a coal miner in #20 and #26 as well as being one of the Dragger Man, he also was sent to work as a Dragger Man during the Springhill Mine Disaster.
He was an exceptional human being caring for anyone who needed help, no matter the reason, never asking for anything in return. Da was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and uncle to his family.
Surviving is daughter, Betty; special son, Bobby (Jenn); grandchildren, Joey (Gina), Nikki (Mike) and Jodi (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Christina, Renee, Jansen, Bobbie Lynn, Gregory, Hannah, Haley, Maylen and Danny; great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Ryan, Hayden, Laylah and Gavin.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by wife, Jeanette; daughter, Gloria; sons, Ricky and Gerald; sisters, Rita, Mary and Winnie and brother, Roy.
Visitation will take place on Monday, March 11, 2019 from7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 12 from 1-2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 12 at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
