Bernice passed away suddenly at her residence in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 29, 2009 at the age of 83.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Sydney at an early age. She was a graduate of Sydney Academy and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University.
Bernice was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Alice Pynn of Sydney River.
She is survived her brother, Douglas (Carolyn) of Calgary and his children, Fred (Cheryl) of Calgary and Catherine (Michel Hepp) of Stouffville, ON.
Her career was spent in the insurance industry primarily with Maritime Life in Halifax and Hawaiian Life in Honolulu until her retirement in 1988. She returned to Sydney River in 1988 to care for her mother and moved back to Honolulu in 2002.
Cremation has taken place in Honolulu. Private interment will be held in John Pringle Memorial Cemetery, Blackett’s Lake.
