It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Robertson Dalgleish on May 28, 2011 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on June 5, 1929, Ian spent his entire life in Kamloops and enjoyed many special moments with all who knew him.
Pre-deceased by his parents Ross and Grace Dalgleish, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Audrey; children Pamela (Robert Prins), Vicki, Kathy (Al Rylandsholm), Ken (Melanie) and Heather (Erik Scholefield); grandchildren Andrew, Mairi, Kyleigh, Kait and Lochlan; siblings Virginia (Frank) Walden and Neil (Frances) plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ian was always interested in horses, cattle and haying, and attended UBC to study Agriculture. Upon completion of university, Ian returned to Kamloops and joined his father and brother in the family business - N.S. Dalgleish Ltd. When the store closed in 1970 he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning and operating a ranch and nothing made him happier than his days on horseback overlooking a herd of cattle at Pinantan Lake.

Ian was involved in local and regional livestock associations plus enjoyed a variety of pastimes including fishing, curling and music. He played in the 'Golden Serenaders' band which entertained around Kamloops and always seemed to have his fiddle handy in case there was an opportunity to play a tune. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and was active in the St. Andrew's & Caledonian Society where he was known to kick up his heels every now and then.

Family times were filled with happy and loving memories. Always a twinkle in his eye, Ian loved to share a funny story and his exuberant laughter could fill a room. Treasured memories are of family get-togethers at Shuswap Lake, Lac Le Jeune and Sunday dinners.

Many thanks to Bob and Betty Dalgleish for all of their kindness to Ian. Words cannot express the family's gratitude to everyone at Ponderosa Lodge for the care and attention during Ian's stay.

No service by request.

A Celebration of Life and a chance to share stories will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkside Lounge at the Interior Savings Centre, 300 Lorne Street.
Should friends desire, donations to Ponderosa Lodge in Ian's memory would be appreciated.

"Happy trails Papa,
as you ride off into the sunset."
